Job summary

Searley Owen is seeking an experienced Powder Coater for our Thurrock-based manufacturing operation. You will handle powder coating of metal components, prepare parts, and ensure a high-quality, consistent finish.

The role demands hands-on expertise with electrostatic coating and diligent attention to detail. Applicants should be able to operate coating equipment, mask as needed, monitor quality, and work to production schedules.

Qualifications

• Must have previous practical experience working as a Powder Coater, ideally within manufacturing, engineering, fabrication or metalwork.
• Experience with electrostatic powder coating would be useful.
• Knowledge of masking, prepping and curing processes is advantageous.

We are looking for an experienced Powder Coater to join an established manufacturing business based in Thurrock.

Previous hands-on powder coating experience is essential. We need somebody who already understands the full process and can come in and produce a consistent, high-quality finish.

The Role

• Powder coating metal components and fabricated products
• Preparing components ready for coating
• Cleaning, degreasing and masking
• Setting up and using powder coating equipment
• Applying powder evenly to achieve the required finish
• Working with different colours and finishes
• Checking coverage and coating quality
• Identifying defects and carrying out rework where required
• Loading and unloading components as part of the coating process
• Keeping equipment and the powder coating area clean
• Working to production schedules and quality standards

Key Skills & Background

You must have previous practical experience working as a Powder Coater, ideally within manufacturing, engineering, fabrication or metalwork.

Experience with the following would be useful:

• Electrostatic powder coating
• Powder coating guns and equipment
• Metal surface preparation
• Masking and plugging
• Curing processes
• Quality checking finished components
• Different powder types, colours and finishes
• Reworking components where required

You'll need a good eye for detail, be comfortable working independently and take pride in producing a good quality finish.

This isn't a wet paint spraying position. Previous powder coating experience is required.

Salary: Up to £17.00 per hour depending on experience
