Job summary

A well established, family run agricultural business in Berkshire seeks a Poultry Manager to oversee a multi-age free-range laying flock and support on-site egg packing. The role involves day-to-day decision making, close collaboration with the owners, and an opportunity to influence future growth.

Accommodation is provided as part of the package. The position offers hands-on management, scope to improve efficiency, and the chance to lead a small team across poultry production and packing

Qualifications

• Experience in poultry management on commercial laying or free-range operations.
• Hands-on with poultry husbandry, flock health and welfare.
• Strong record-keeping and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day care of a multi-age free-range laying flock.
• Monitor flock health, egg production, feed consumption and environment.
• Maintain accurate farm, flock and production records.
• Support egg grading, packing and dispatch when required.
• Carry out routine maintenance and basic repairs to machinery and equipment.
• Assist with general farm, building and site maintenance.
• Maintain health & safety, environmental and relevant assurance standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity and operational standards.
• Work closely with the farm team and Business Owners, taking ownership of day-to-day decisions and resolving issues as they arise.
• Alternate weekend working will form part of the role.
