Centre for Medicines Discovery, NDM Research Building, Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7FZ
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join Professor Alex Bullock’s Growth Factor Signalling and Ubiquitination research group. You will investigate proteins genetically linked to childhood brain tumours, including medulloblastoma and glioma, contributing to research aimed at improving our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying these cancers.
You will develop and perform cellular assays to characterise disease-associated genetic mutants and small molecule modulators, with a particular focus on protein degradation and kinase signalling. You will analyse and interpret experimental data, contribute new research ideas, prepare publications and presentations, collaborate with other researchers, and provide guidance to research assistants and PhD students.
You will be responsible for managing your own academic research and administrative duties involving small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines, as well as maintaining accurate records in an electronic lab notebook. You will be adapting, developing and performing cell assay protocols in protein degradation and kinase signalling to characterise genetic mutants linked to childhood brain tumours.
It is essential that you hold a relevant PhD/DPhil in Molecular Biology or closely related subject. You must have proven technical experience in cellular assays for protein degradation and kinase signalling, including work with cancer mutants and small molecule chemical probes. A good scientific publication record is a must. It is essential that you have competent computer skills including knowledge of graphpad and electronic lab notebooks. It is also essential that you have excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings.
This position is offered part time on a fixed term contract until 31 March 2027 and is funded by both the Department and Cancer Research UK.
Only applications received before 12 midday on Monday, 2 November 2026 will be considered.
