Job summary

The University of Oxford seeks a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Biological Mass Spectrometry to characterise (crosslinked) proteins and lipids as part of a Wellcome Trust-funded collaboration. You will guide junior group members, manage research activities to meet deadlines, test hypotheses, analyze data, and contribute to reports and journal articles.

The role involves representing the group at external meetings and seminars.

Qualifications

PhD/DPhil in Chemistry, Physics or similar; near completion acceptable.
Experience with instrumentation for manipulation of ions and vacuum systems.
Knowledge of ion optics and mass spectrometry; experience with several mass spectrometer types and fragmentation approaches.
Knowledge of complementary structural and biophysical methods.

Responsibilities

Provide guidance to junior group members (postdocs, research assistants, technicians, PhD students).
Manage research and administrative activities to coordinate multiple aspects and meet deadlines.
Use existing and new techniques, test hypotheses and analyse data; contribute to reports and journal articles.
Represent the research group at external meetings/seminars, with or without other group members.
