Job summary

University of Oxford in Oxford seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher to characterise (crosslinked) proteins and lipids within a Wellcome Trust-funded project led by Associate Professor Shabaz Mohammed in the Department of Pharmacology. The role includes guiding junior researchers, managing research and admin tasks, and coordinating multiple project strands.

Qualifications

• PhD/DPhil in Chemistry, Physics or related field (or near completion).
• Experience with instrumentation for ion manipulation and vacuum systems; knowledge of ion optics.
• Practical experience with several mass spectrometer types and fragmentation approaches.
• Ability to carry out proteome-characterisation procedures with precision and to analyse quantitative proteomic data.
• Proficiency in handling large datasets including bioinformatics and biostatistics.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to less experienced group members (postdocs, researchers, technicians, PhD students).
• Manage academic research and administrative activities, coordinating multiple work streams to meet deadlines.
• Design, test hypotheses, and analyse scientific data; contribute to reports and journal articles.
• Collaborate in preparation of scientific reports and presentations for external meetings/seminars.
• Represent the group at external meetings, with others or independently.
