Job summary

The University of Oxford, Department of Physics, AOPP, invites applications for a post-doctoral researcher focusing on aerosols, clouds and their interactions with km-scale modelling. The role will advance representation in global km-scale Earth System Models and examine aerosol effects on radiative forcing, precipitation and extremes.

You will work with national and international collaborators, disseminate results at meetings and in high-impact publications, and may co-advise doctoral students.

Qualifications

• PhD/DPhil (or near completion) in atmospheric physics or related field.
• Strong background in atmospheric physics with a solid research track record.
• Experience with UNIX/Linux, Fortran, Python or other high-level languages.

Responsibilities

• Advance the representation of aerosols and clouds in km-scale Earth System Models.
• Assess aerosol effects on radiative forcing, precipitation and extremes.
• Publish results at national and international meetings and in high-impact journals; may co-advise doctoral students; teaching may be included.
