The University of Oxford invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the Computing Infrastructure group, Department of Engineering Science, Oxford. We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Computing Infrastructure research group at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The post is funded by UKRI EPSRC, is fixed term for up to 12 months maximum, and must end by 31/12/2026. You will be contributing to joint UKRI EPSRC - NSF CBET project on sustainable computer networks, with a focus on carbon emissions reduction and network telemetry. You will contribute to the development of a framework that reduces the carbon emissions of networks through the use of carbon-aware network telemetry, and the implementation of new hardware support mechanisms. Your role will include the design, implementation and evaluation of different parts in the system, and the integration with other partners in the project.
You should possess a PhD/DPhil in Engineering, Computer Science or other related field, (with the possibility to underfill at Grade 6 (£35,681-£41,636 per annum) if candidate holds a relevant degree and is working on PhD/DPhil) together with established knowledge in wired computer networks and sustainable computing, significant coding experience (both Python and C/C++ or P4), and a record of working in a Linux environment and related scripting languages.
