Job summary

University of Oxford, Department of Engineering Science, is inviting applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant position focused on sustainable computer networks. The role contributes to a UKRI EPSRC–NSF CBET project, with a fixed term ending by 31/12/2026 and a salary in the stated range.

The successful candidate will design, implement and evaluate components of a carbon-aware network telemetry framework, collaborating with project partners and applying significant coding

Qualifications

• PhD/DPhil in Engineering, Computer Science or related field; underfill at Grade 6 (£35,681-£41,636) if candidate holds a relevant degree and is working on PhD/DPhil.
• Established knowledge in wired computer networks and sustainable computing.
• Significant coding experience in Python and C/C++ or P4; Linux environment and scripting languages.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and evaluate components of the framework.
• Integrate with project partners and contribute to carbon emissions reduction via telemetry.
• Develop hardware support mechanisms and assess system performance.
