About the Role
We invite applications for the position of Postdoctoral Research Assistant (PDRA) in the School of Mathematical Sciences. The successful applicant will work closely with Dr. Omer Bobrowski on the project “Universality in Topological Data Analysis”, funded by EPSRC. The project aims to study the probabilistic behaviour of high-dimensional structures, focusing on phase transitions related to their topology. This research extends phenomena known in random graphs and stochastic geometry, providing insights into statistical and computational challenges in topological data analysis (TDA).
The ideal candidate will have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in mathematics or equivalent qualifications. Applicants should have research experience in probability theory and/or applied topology, with a proven record of high-quality research publications. Expertise in machine learning, applied topology, or probability theory is desirable.
The School of Mathematical Sciences has a strong research profile across various disciplines. It is part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, which includes five schools and two institutes. The School hosts around 80 PhD students, 85 academic staff, and 16 research assistants, with a vibrant research environment.
The School holds a Bronze Athena SWAN Award and supports equality initiatives. We encourage applications from female candidates and are committed to diversity, offering flexible working arrangements, family-friendly policies, and campus facilities including an on-site nursery.
This full-time, 2-year fixed-term position is based at Mile End Campus, starting in September 2024 or as soon as possible. Salary is Grade 5 point 31, £42,405 per year, including London Allowance.
