Job summary

The University of Nottingham invites applications for a researcher in quantum information and entanglement theory to work with Professor Gerardo Adesso on an EPSRC/NSF-funded project. The role focuses on developing methods to identify entanglement from experimental observables and coordinating UK-US collaborations.

The post is full-time andstarts 01 January 2027 on a fixed-term 24‑month contract. We seek an organized, capable researcher with a PhD (or near completion), strong theory background,

Qualifications

• Hold a PhD (or near completion) in mathematics, physics or a closely related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of quantum information theory and entanglement.
• Experience in theoretical or mathematical quantum research with publishable outputs.
• Ability to develop analytical or computational methods for research problems.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines and institutions.

Responsibilities

• Undertake original research of international excellence in quantum information and entanglement theory.
• Develop research objectives and proposals for own or collaborative areas.
• Prepare papers for publication and participate in conferences and workshops.
• Identify opportunities and assist in writing bids for research grants.
• Provide support and supervision to staff and junior team members.
• Coordinate meetings and resources, and support UK/US collaborations.
