The University of Nottingham is seeking a researcher in quantum information and entanglement theory to join a EPSRC/NSF-funded project led by Professor Gerardo Adesso. You will investigate how entanglement manifests in heterogeneous chemical reactions using quantum information approaches and open quantum systems modeling.
You will develop objectives, publish in top journals, present at international venues, and contribute to grant proposals while working with a diverse and inclusive team in a

We are looking for a researcher, whose expertise lies in quantum information and entanglement theory, to work with Professor Gerardo Adesso and collaborators on an EPSRC/NSF-funded project entitled "Entanglement Witness of Heterogeneous Surface Reactions". The central aim of the project is to investigate the role of quantum entanglement in heterogeneous chemical reactions, by combining quantum information theory, nanoscale sensing and theoretical modelling of open quantum systems. The project seeks to develop and apply methods to identify and quantify entanglement from experimentally accessible measurements, establishing whether genuinely quantum correlations arise in chemical processes and how they may influence reaction dynamics.
We believe that talented and inclusive teams deliver the highest quality research and are seeking applications from high quality candidates who enhance the diversity of our existing team. The School is committed to creating opportunities for people traditionally under-represented in Mathematical Sciences and strives to maintain an environment where people can be their authentic selves.
You will be able to carry out duties to the highest standard and to evidence how through your experience you will:

This full-time post is available from 01 January 2027 (or as soon as possible thereafter) and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 24 months. Many of our team have flexible working patterns so we’re open to discuss flexible working arrangements with you.
Interviews are expected to take place in late November 2026.
