Job summary

Kavli Institute for Nanoscience Discovery, Oxford, is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to study how Parkinson’s disease–associated genetic perturbations affect mitochondrial function and cellular metabolism in human neurons. The postholder will work in the Ryan Group within the Laboratory of Molecular Neurodegeneration, using advanced CRISPRi/a libraries in iPSC-derived neuronal models.

Qualifications

• PhD in neuroscience or related field and evidence of strong publication record.
• Experience in neuronal/glial culture, preferably human pluripotent stem cells.
• Experience with CRISPR methodologies and functional genomics.
• Experience with image-based cellular assays and high-content imaging.
• Knowledge of mitochondrial biology and cellular metabolism.

Responsibilities

• Maintain iPSC cultures and differentiate into dopaminergic or cortical neurons.
• Perform medium-throughput experiments using CRISPR perturbations.
• Develop and use sgRNA libraries for gene manipulation in neurons.
• Apply and optimise imaging, metabolic assays and data analysis.
• Collaborate to generate and present research findings and manuscripts.
