Job summary

MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge seeks a Postdoctoral Scientist to work in the Neurobiology Division. The role involves developing methods to form alpha-synuclein filaments with structures matching those observed in human brain tissue.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant subject (or be within 6 months of completion) and possess strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant subject or near completion within 6 months.
• Experience in generating experimental models of amyloid formation and/or cryo-EM/cryo-ET.
• Excellent communication and ability to work both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Undertake research to develop methods for forming alpha-synuclein filaments with human-brain-like structures.
• Collaborate with Dr Sjors Scheres from the Structural Studies Division.
• Employ immunoprecipitation and mass spectrometry to identify cofactors.
• Apply cryo-EM to analyse filament folds.
