Job summary

The University of Manchester invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a Leverhulme Trust project on air entrainment and bubble formation by plunging jets in complex fluids. You will lead the numerical programme, developing high-fidelity adaptive multiphase simulations and contributing to publications.

Applicants should have a PhD in fluid mechanics, physics, or engineering, with strong experience in numerical methods and simulations.

Qualifications

• This role requires a PhD in fluid mechanics, physics, engineering or closely related discipline.
• Experience developing, deploying and analysing new numerical methods and algorithms is essential.
• Experience in multiphase flows, rheology, non-Newtonian fluids or mesh-free methods is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the project's numerical programme, developing and deploying new algorithms.
• Perform simulations of jets, bubbles and air entrainment in complex fluids.
• Conduct numerical experiments and contribute to publications and conferences.
