Job summary

University of Manchester seeks a Post-doctoral Research Associate to advance research on the mechanics of floating structures. The role focuses on building mathematical models of fluid-structure interactions, developing experiments and analyzing data within a dynamic research environment.

You will join a collaborative team, contribute to publications, and work on joint projects with colleagues. PhD or equivalent and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Hold or be about to obtain a PhD (or equivalent) in physics, engineering, chemistry or applied mathematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, and eagerness to learn new skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a group and, also, to work independently.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performing experiments on floating structures.
  • Acquiring & analysing experimental data and interpreting findings.
  • Using mathematical techniques to model fluid-structure interactions.
  • Writing up research work for publication.
  • Working with colleagues on joint projects.
