University of Manchester is inviting applications for a postdoctoral Research Associate to advance a Leverhulme Trust project on air entrainment and bubble formation by plunging jets in complex fluids. The role emphasizes numerical method development, high-fidelity multiphase simulations and collaboration with experimental/theoretical partners.

The successful candidate will lead the numerical programme, develop new algorithms, and run simulations of jets and bubbles in non-Newtonian fluids,

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in fluid mechanics, physics, engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Experience developing, deploying and analysing new numerical methods and algorithms.
• Experience in multiphase flows, rheology, non-Newtonian fluids, or mesh-free numerical methods would be advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Lead the project’s numerical programme and develop new algorithms for high-fidelity simulations.
• Run simulations of jets, bubbles and air entrainment in complex fluids using in-house and open-source codes.
• Contribute to publications and conference presentations and collaborate with project partners.
