Job summary

UCL's Bioelectronics group at the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering seeks a postdoctoral researcher to lead hardware and circuit system development for a flagship EPSRC-funded project. You will turn designs into working prototypes and drive tests with clinicians to extract clinical metrics from sensor data.

The role involves developing new devices, validating them in tests, and contributing to data analysis and potential clinical integration.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Proven track record building electronic hardware and circuit systems, taking concepts to working prototypes.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium, KiCad, OrCAD/Allegro).
• Hands-on board assembly, bring-up and debugging with standard lab instruments.
• Experience in embedded systems programming (C/C++ on microcontrollers) for data acquisition and device control.
• Solid knowledge of analogue and mixed-signal circuit design for sensors and readout.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware and circuit system development for the project.
• Turn designs into proof-of-concept prototypes.
• Develop test protocols and obtain ethics approval for user testing.
• Collaborate with clinicians and researchers to extract clinical metrics from sensor data.
