Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Radstock is seeking a part-time Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels. The role is 30 hours per week on a rotating schedule, with Sundays at Bath Delivery Office and a 12-month fixed-term contract. Training and a uniform are provided, along with a red Royal Mail van.

You will walk long distances, drive daily, and work outdoors in all weather, building strong relationships with customers in your community.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs/hills, and lifting 10kg+ mailbags.

Job type: Fixed Term contrac(12 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 09:00/16:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at BathDelivery Office.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
