Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Wrexham is hiring a Postie on a fixed-term 6-month contract. You will sort mail, deliver by van and on foot in your local area, work outdoors in all weathers, and follow a rotating shift schedule including Sundays.

The role offers 27.5 hours per week across Monday to Saturday with defined shift times. Training is provided, and a full manual UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van and pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs/hills, and lifting/carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated with strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment

Location: Wrexham Delivery Office, LL11 1AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract (6 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 27.50 hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday

Monday - Saturday hours: 09:15 -15:00

Sunday hours: 11:00 - 17:00

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Wrexham Delivery Office.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently

As a Postie, you're expected to securely deliver all items on your route, including handling and delivering election materials and certain items (such as food products or alcohol) in line with Royal Mail business standards.
