Royal Mail in Sutton Coldfield is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term 9-month contract. You will sort letters and parcels at the delivery office, then deliver by van and on foot in your local area, building relationships with customers.

The role is outdoor, physically demanding, and fast-paced. You’ll work Sundays for 8 hours per week, with full training provided and a reliable, independent work style required to ensure a great service for the community.

Job type: Fixed Term contract for 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 8 hours per week – working on a Sunday – 09:00am/17:00pm*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
