Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Sandhurst. You will join a fixed-term 12-month contract, delivering letters and parcels in your local area, with a rotating shift pattern and weekend work as required.

Training is provided, and you will operate in all weather conditions from a Royal Mail van and on foot. The role requires a full UK manual driving licence (6 points max), physical fitness for long walks and lifting 10kg+ mailbags, and reliability with a customer-focused

Location: Sandhurst Delivery Office, GU47 9XX

Job type: Fixed Term contract - 12 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37 hours per week – working a 9 day fortnight over two shift patterns - 06:30 - 15:30 or 13:30 - 20:00 on rotation which will be explained in more detail at Interview.

Your role includes a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Goldworth Park Delivery Office. on a rota basis currently 0ne in Four between 09:00 - 18:00.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
