Royal Mail in Porthmadog is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels across the local area on a rotating shift, including Sundays. You’ll sort at the delivery office, drive a Royal Mail van daily, and walk when required, building friendly relationships with customers in the community.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

You'll need

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self‑motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer‑focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently

Benefits may vary depending on your contract length and start date, with some subject to qualifying periods.

Please note: For candidate search purposes, roles offering between 35-37 hours per week are listed as full‑time. However, any role under 37 hours per week will be classified as part‑time in the employment contract.
