Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Melksham is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term basis for 6 months. You will deliver letters and parcels, by van and on foot, across a 30-hour week, with weekend work and rotating shifts in all weather conditions.

Full training, a uniform and a monthly salary of £13.68 per hour, plus paid overtime, are provided. The role requires reliability, strong organisation and a customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van and pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances and carry 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated with good organisational skills
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently on varied routes

Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 7am - 13:30pm or 10am - 18:30pm

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
