Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie to deliver letters and parcels in London, with a 30-hour week on a rotating shift including weekends. You will sort mail, deliver by van and on foot, and build customer relationships while working outdoors in all weather.

Full training provided; you’ll use a uniform and a red Royal Mail van. Applicants should have a full manual UK licence, be physically fit, and be prepared for driving assessments and flexible hours.

Job type: Fixed Term contract (09 months)

Salary: £16.24 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30.00 hours per week – working (5) days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 8:30/15:30

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
