Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Gravesend is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a 6-month fixed-term contract. The role covers 28 hours per week across five days, with shifts between 09:00–15:00, 11:00–17:00 or 15:00–21:00, including some weekends.

You will sort mail at the delivery office, deliver by van and on foot in your local area, and build good relationships with customers. The job is outdoor and physically active, with full training provided.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points)

Job type: Fixed Term contract (6 months)

Salary: £16.24 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 28.00 hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - working between 09:00-15:00 or 11:00-17:00 or 15:00-21:00

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work some Sundays between 10:00-16:00.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:
