Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Dudley to stay active while serving the community by delivering letters and parcels. You will work outdoors, confident in handling packages, and represent the trusted Royal Mail brand.

The role involves a rotating weekend schedule, 28 hours per week, and a £13.68 per hour rate with paid overtime. Full training and a uniform are provided. You will be on the road daily, ensuring deliveries in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

Job type: Fixed Term contract(9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 28:00hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:57/14:50*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at DudleyDelivery Office and the Sunday shift pattwern would be from 11:30/17:30*

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
