Job summary

Royal Mail in Portland is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term 9-month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels in the local area, using a Royal Mail van, on a rotating shift that includes weekends, and you will be paid £13.68 per hour with paid overtime.

You’ll be active outdoors, walking up to 12 miles a day, and you’ll need a full manual UK driving licence and the ability to pass a driving assessment.

Qualifications

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 37:00hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:30/18:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Dorchester Delivery Office, Bridport Road, Dorchester, DT1 1AA

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
