Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Castleford to deliver letters and parcels. You’ll work 30 hours a week on a rotating schedule, including Sundays, with 12:30-18:30 on Sundays and 14:00-20:00 on weekdays, with overtime and a fixed-term 6-month contract.

You’ll need a full manual UK driving licence, be physically fit for outdoor work, and enjoy serving the community while staying active and independent.

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment

Location: Whitwood Delivery Office, WF10 5QA

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Saturday – 14:00-20:00 and Sunday 12:30-18:30*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work 12:30-18:30 Sundays on a rota basis.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)


• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:
