Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Carterton is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to join our local delivery team. You will sort letters and parcels, deliver by van and on foot, and build relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weathers.

The role involves a rotating shift, some weekend work, and a 30-hour week with an hourly rate of £13.68. Full training is provided, and you’ll receive a uniform and a branded van.

Qualifications

• Full training provided, uniform and a Royal Mail van.
• Hold a full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points).

Location: Carterton Delivery Office, OX18 3TT

Job type: Permanentcontract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 09:00/15:00*

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
