Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Bonnyrigg. You will sort, deliver letters and parcels, and work on a rotating schedule across Monday to Sunday, 09:30–16:30. The role is 30 hours per week with overtime opportunities and involves outdoor work and customer interaction.

Requires a full UK driving licence (6 points max) and the fitness to walk long distances. Training, a uniform, and a red Royal Mail van are provided.

Location: Bonnyrigg Delivery Office, EH19 3EX

Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 09:30/16:30*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
