Royal Mail Group is hiring a Postie in Blaydon-on-Tyne to deliver letters and parcels on a 30-hour week, with weekend work and rotating shifts. Full training, a uniform, and a red Royal Mail van are provided.

The role requires a full manual UK driving licence, fitness for outdoor work, and a reliable, self-motivated approach. You will work across a 5-days-in-7 schedule, with a 6-month fixed term contract and potential overtime.

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 Months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 09:00/21:00*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays as per the rota.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
