Job summary

Royal Mail Group is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Bexleyheath to join a fixed-term 6-month contract. You will work 30 hours per week, on a rotating shift including weekends, earning £16.24 per hour with overtime opportunities.

The role involves delivering by van and on foot, building customer relationships, and working outdoors in all weather. Full training, a uniform, and a red Royal Mail van are provided.

Qualifications

• Must have a full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points).

Working hours: 30.00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday -07:30/15:15

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
