Job summary

Royal Mail in Bellshill is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a 9-month fixed-term contract. You will work 30 hours per week across five days, with some weekend shifts and a rotating rota. Deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot, and build relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weather.

You’ll receive training, a uniform, and overtime opportunities. A full manual UK driving licence is required, and you’ll be physically fit and self-motivated to handle busy

Location: Bellshill Delivery Office, ML4 1BB

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 Months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 10am/4pm*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays as per the rota.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
