Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Skipton to sort and deliver letters and parcels in the local area, building relationships with customers and working outdoors in all weather. You will join a rotating shift across five days in seven, including Sundays, with full training provided.

The role requires a full UK driving licence, the ability to pass a driving assessment, and a physically fit, self-motivated candidate who enjoys independent, active work in a fast-paced

Location: Skipton Delivery Office, BD23 2DG

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 37 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:30 - 15:30/13:30 - 21:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Keighley Delivery Office.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
