Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie in Kilmarnock to deliver letters and parcels on a 28-hour week, across Monday to Saturday with a 13:00–18:30 shift. The role is a fixed-term contract for 9 months with overtime opportunities and a rotating weekend schedule.

You will sort mail, drive a Royal Mail van, walk routes, and engage with customers daily. Full manual UK driving licence required; training provided and uniform supplied.

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 Months

Salary: £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 28:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Saturday – 13:00/18:30

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
