Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Chertsey to deliver letters and parcels. The role is a 9-month fixed-term contract, 37 hours per week across a seven-day pattern, with early start options and weekend work.

Full training, a red van, and uniform are provided. You will sort mail at the office, drive a Royal Mail van, and deliver in your local area, staying active and connected to the community.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit for long walking distances, stairs/hills, and lifting 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated with strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment.
• Customer-focused with pride in delivering great service.

Location: Chertsey Delivery Office, KT16 9AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 months)

Salary: £16.24 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:00 - 15:00 OR 11:00. During Christmas 12:00 - 20:00.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be required to work Sundays.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags

• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
