Job summary

Royal Mail is recruiting a Cheltenham Delivery Office Postie to deliver letters and parcels across Cheltenham. You will work 37 hours per week on a rotating shift, including some Sundays, with paid overtime and a fixed-term contract for nine months.

You will drive a Royal Mail van, walk routes, and interact with customers daily, under training and with a uniform provided. The role is outdoors, fast-paced, and physically demanding, but rewarding.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs/hills, and lifting 10kg+ mailbags

Location: Cheltenham Delivery Office, GL50 4BB

Job type: Fixed Term contract for nine months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 37:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:00/16:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work two in four Sundays at Cheltenham Delivery Office between 09:00/17:00.

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags

• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
