Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Epsom for a fixed-term 9-month contract. The role offers 30 hours per week across 5 days, with shifts starting as early as 7am and finishing as late as 8pm.

You will deliver letters and parcels, work outdoors, and represent the Royal Mail in the local community. You’ll need a full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points) and be willing to work Sundays on a rotating schedule.

Location: Epsom Delivery Office, KT17 1AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract for 9 months.

Salary: £16.24 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – Shifts starting from as early as 7am and finishing as late as 8pm.

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Leatherhead Delivery Office. The Sunday working rota will be determine per business needs with shifts starting from as early as 10am and finishing as late a 7pm.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
