Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Alexandria is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels from the local delivery office. You will work a 30-hour week on a rotating shift, across Monday to Sunday, with some weekend work and a driving‑test requirement.

Job type: Permanent

Salary: £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days out of 7 across Monday – Sunday – 09:00/15:30.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast‑paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time‑pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and ability to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self‑motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer‑focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
