Job summary

Ngccare in Bournemouth is seeking a Post-16 Support Worker to help young people aged 16 and over develop skills for education, work, and independent living. You will build trusted relationships, provide tailored one-to-one and group support, and enable access to training, education, and employment opportunities.

You will promote wellbeing, resilience, and empowerment while safeguarding and advocating for the young people you support, in a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills essential for working with young people and families.
• Empathetic, patient, and non-judgemental approach to support.
• Strong organisational and time-management abilities to plan activities and record progress.
• Understanding safeguarding and the needs of vulnerable young people in education settings.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Build positive relationships with young people and their families.
• Provide one-to-one and group support aligned to individual goals.
• Help access education, training, apprenticeships, employment, and volunteering opportunities.
• Develop independent living skills like budgeting, cooking, and travel planning.
• Support goal setting, action planning, and personal development.
• Promote emotional wellbeing, resilience, and self-confidence.
• Advocate for young people and reflect their views in decisions.
• Liaise with colleges, employers, and social care professionals.
• Assist with accessing community resources and services.
• Monitor progress and maintain accurate records.
• Safeguard young people and report concerns per policies.
