The Post 16 Teacher Role

Are you a compassionate and dedicated Post 16 Teacher looking to make a real difference in the lives of young adults and students? We are seeking a Special Educational Needs Secondary Teacher for a vibrant school with students aged 4-19 in Lambeth, specialising in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). You will work specifically with secondary or young adult students, implementing a specialised curriculum to enhance engagement in life skills. Your role involves developing individualised learning plans focusing on student independence and community access.

The School

The successful candidate will join an outstanding SEN school in Lambeth for children with severe learning difficulties. The school caters to pupils aged 4-19 with ASD and EHCPs. It offers unique indoor and outdoor environments designed to maximise learning opportunities and meet specific needs. The curriculum aims to promote independence and life skills, preparing students for adulthood through education, employment, healthy lifestyles, friendships, and independent living.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement personalised lesson plans for students.
2. Create and maintain a positive and supportive classroom environment.
3. Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching approaches as necessary.
4. Engage with parents and caregivers to support student development both at home and school.
5. Lead and work collaboratively with a support team within the classroom.
6. Collaborate with local organisations to facilitate community integration for students.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of ASD and SLD students.
• Experience in a special needs education setting is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
