Job summary

Randstad UK is seeking a dedicated Post-16 SEN Teaching Assistant to support young adults aged 16-19+ with a range of SEN near Swaffham Bulbeck, Cambridgeshire. The role offers flexible day-to-day supply and long-term placement opportunities, with training and local consultant support from Randstad Education.

You will work 1:1 or in small groups, help students access functional education, and promote independence through life-skills and community activities.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with SEN in relevant settings.
• Desirable Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning, Health & Social Care, or Youth Work.
• Patient, supportive approach promoting independence.
• Willing to assist with personal care and community activities.
• DBS check in Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Life skills sessions: literacy, numeracy, cooking, personal finance, travel training, and community navigation.
• Vocational & practical learning: assist in workshops, enterprise projects, work experience, off-site activities.
• Targeted classroom support: 1:1 or small groups for accessible curriculum.
• Communication support: use visual timetables, PECS, Makaton, or digital assistive tech.
• Personal care & dignity: assist with care needs per individual plans ensuring safety and respect.
• Progress tracking: maintain daily records for EHCP reviews.
