Job summary

Northumberland Skills Service, part of Northumberland County Council, seeks Learning Support Assistants to support Post 16 learners with SEN. The role is fixed-term until 20/08/2027 and part-time (22.2 hours/week) during term time.

The LSA will work with lecturers to enable learners to engage in courses, workshops and social activities, in a supportive setting. Applicants should have GCSEs in Maths and English, a Level 2 NOS-STL or equivalent, and experience with SEND.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children with SEN in a Post 16 setting.
• GCSEs Maths and English or equivalent.
• Level 2 NOS-STL qualification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Support learners with SEN to access learning opportunities and develop basic skills and vocational learning.
• Collaborate with the lecturing team to support learners individually and in groups.
• Implement EHCP targets in liaison with lecturers and outside agencies.
• Create an inclusive learning environment and provide positive reinforcement.
