Job summary

Portland Charity is seeking a resilient Specialist Learning Support Assistant to join our team. You will collaborate with tutors, therapists and the Positive Behaviour Support Team to help learners overcoming barriers and achieve goals within their curriculum framework.

You will support individuals and groups, monitor progress, and assist with personal care and emergency health needs. A Positive Behaviour Support qualification or related training would be desirable.

Qualifications

• Empathy for people with disabilities and a genuine desire to empower learners.
• Ability to remain calm in challenging situations and communicate clearly.
• Experience delivering directed learning to individuals or small groups.

Responsibilities

• Support learners with educational, care, therapy and wellbeing needs.
• Facilitate learning activities under supervision of tutors/ managers.
• Monitor learners’ progress against targets and support with complex needs and behaviours.
• Complete incident reports following challenging behaviours.
• Assist with personal care, meals and breaks, ensuring dignity and independence.
