Job summary

The Supply Register Ltd. is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join Rowan Park SEN school in Litherland, supporting pupils with complex needs and PMLD. You will work with teachers and therapists to deliver tailored, pupil-centred care and promote inclusive learning.

Experience in personal care, DBS (Enhanced) and medication administration are highly valued, along with a calm, patient and flexible approach and strong communication within a team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Learning Support Assistant or SEN Teaching Assistant.
• Fully Enhanced DBS on the update service.
• Experience supporting children with PMLD or significant disabilities.
• Practical experience providing personal care in school or care settings.
• Experience administering medication with appropriate training and following procedures.
• Calm, flexible and positive approach to supporting pupils with diverse needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with complex additional needs and making a real difference to their daily lives, learning and development.

We are particularly interested in candidates with previous experience supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), alongside experience providing personal care and administering medication in line with relevant training and school policies.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of complex needs. You will help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every pupil is supported to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with PMLD and complex additional needs.
• Supporting pupils with personal care, including toileting, changing and maintaining personal hygiene, always promoting dignity and respect.
• Administering medication in accordance with relevant training, school policies and individual care plans.
• Supporting pupils with their communication, sensory needs, learning activities and emotional wellbeing.
• Assisting with mobility and physical support where required, following individual care plans and safe handling procedures.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other support staff to deliver consistent, pupil-centred care.
• Promoting pupils' independence, confidence and engagement throughout the school day.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Care Assistant or Support Worker.
• Fully Enhanced DBS on the update service
• Experience supporting children or young people with PMLD or significant physical and learning disabilities.
• Practical experience providing personal care in a school, care or specialist setting.
• Experience administering medication, with appropriate training and a willingness to follow school procedures.
• A calm, flexible and positive approach to supporting pupils with diverse needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A genuine passion for helping children and young people develop their skills, independence and confidence.,
