Job summary

Wayman Education is working with a Secondary School in Milton Keynes to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Mentor. The successful candidate will support pupils to develop positive behaviour, engage with learning and build constructive relationships with staff and peers.

You will work alongside teaching staff, pastoral colleagues and leaders to support pupils who may have difficulties with behaviour, attendance or emotional regulation.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people in a school, youth support, mentoring or pastoral environment.
• Strong communication, patience and the ability to build trust while maintaining clear boundaries.
• A consistent, fair and practical approach with safeguarding, confidentiality and accurate record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted support to pupils who require guidance in managing behaviour and engagement.
• Develop positive relationships with pupils and reinforce behavioural expectations.
• Support pupils in lessons, during social times and in intervention sessions as needed.
• Record incidents and document interventions; share information with colleagues.
• Support reintegration after periods of exclusion or absence and help pupils develop routines.
• Respond calmly to challenging situations and follow safeguarding policies.
