Job summary

Manchester City Council's Adult Social Care Provider Services seeks a dedicated practitioner to work with people with learning disabilities and autism, including distressed behaviours. You will apply Positive Behaviour Support concepts and lead staff training to improve daily support.

The role requires coaching colleagues, developing a workforce practice model, and delivering interventions in a multi‑agency setting.

Qualifications

• Proven experience and knowledge of working with people with a learning disability and autism.
• Direct practice and training in learning disability and autism interventions such as positive behavioural support, leadership, active support, total communication.
• Willingness to consent to and apply for an enhanced DBS check.
• Willingness to travel to any location within the boundaries of the city of Manchester.

Responsibilities

• Develop and embed a workforce practice model that provides specialist training and education to ensure people receive the best possible support.
• Coach and train the workforce to deliver interventions for distressed behaviours and to be responsive to people’s needs.
• Develop and promote strategic collaboration with key partners to meet complex needs and promote independence.
• Ensure voice of the people supported is co-produced and reflected in service delivery.
