Job summary

Nunn Hayward LLP in Gerrards Cross is seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager to join our growing team. You will manage a diverse portfolio, build strong client relationships and contribute to ongoing development of people and processes.

The role requires ACA or ACCA, the ability to manage clients independently, and a proactive approach to financial reporting including statutory accounts, management accounts and VAT returns. Hybrid working offered after probation.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualification with strong practice experience.
• Experience managing a client portfolio independently.
• Skilled in preparing and reviewing statutory accounts, management accounts and VAT returns.

Responsibilities

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Portfolio Manager to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accounting professional who enjoys building strong client relationships, taking ownership of a diverse portfolio, and contributing to the ongoing development of both people and processes.

Duties And Responsibilities

Client Management

• Manage your own portfolio of clients and act as their main point of contact for statutory accounts, management accounts and all queries and correspondence.
• Prepare and review management accounts and VAT returns.
• Build strong client relationships and provide proactive advice.
• Work collaboratively with the wider team on complex matters when required.
• Directly line manage three employees, support, mentor and develop junior team members.
• Review work and provide day-to-day guidance.
• Assist with resource planning and workload management.
• Promote a positive and professional team culture.

Technical Delivery

• Review statutory accounts, VAT returns and management accounts.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of VAT and accounting regulations.
• Keep abreast of new accounting technologies and software.

Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service delivery.
• Work collaboratively to solve challenges and enhance client outcomes.

Performance & Commercials

• Meet utilisation and financial targets for yourself and your client portfolio.
• Monitor WIP, billing and recoverability.
• Ensure work is delivered on time and to a high standard.
• Take ownership of personal development and support staff reviews where applicable.

Experience Ideally Required

• ACA or ACCA with strong experience in an Accountancy Practice and Industry environment.
• Experienced in managing a portfolio of clients independently.
• Confident preparing and reviewing statutory accounts, management accounts and VAT returns.
• Commercially aware with a strong understanding of practice performance metrics.
• A natural relationship-builder with excellent communication skills.
• Organised, proactive, and solutions focused.
• Passionate about delivering exceptional client service.
• Keen to support and develop others through coaching and leadership.
