Purpose of the role
To support the portfolio in delivering successful change by ensuring that processes and practices are aligned with relevant controls and governance standards, and that all activities align with the strategic objectives of the business area/organisation.
Accountabilities
- Support the delivery of successful change within the portfolio, ensuring alignment with controls and standards.
- Facilitate portfolio prioritisation, ensuring compliance with control frameworks and oversight of controls and standards.
- Support effective governance, enabling data-driven decision making, and ensuring timely and fit-for-purpose reporting to senior management.
- Monitor portfolio performance, track progress, identify risks and issues, and report status to stakeholders.
- Manage the Book of Work, prioritising change initiatives considering resources, stakeholder buy-in, and risks.
- Oversee change delivery to ensure policy compliance, drive controls data integrity, and improve control maturity.
- Review, resolve, escalate risks and issues, and support their resolution.
- Engage stakeholders through clear communication and effective portfolio management processes.
- Empower resources, use data-driven insights, and promote accountability and transparency.
- Provide expertise in controls and governance, embedding best practices across the portfolio.
Director Expectations
- Manage a business function, influencing strategic initiatives, policies, and procedures.
- Lead a large team or organisation-wide projects, coaching and guiding less experienced staff, and influencing long-term strategic decisions.
- Provide advice to senior management, influencing decisions outside the immediate function.
- Manage resourcing, budgeting, and policy development for a significant sub-function.
- Ensure compliance with policies and regulations, fostering an environment of adherence.
- Monitor external environment and regulators, influencing on behalf of Barclays when appropriate.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the function's integration with the broader business and industry practices.
- Use advanced analytical skills to solve complex problems and design solutions.
- Make strategic decisions within the area of authority and influence stakeholders at senior levels.
- Act as a principal contact for key clients and internal functions, representing the division.
