Job description

Hybrid - Any HMRC Regional Centre

A Portfolio Analyst is responsible for overseeing a collection of programmes or projects that contribute to departmental or business area objectives. They

will primarily focus on providing insights, information, and support to strengthen portfolio governance, enable prioritisation decisions, and facilitate effective resource allocation

across the portfolio. Ultimately, analysts help ensure the optimal delivery of departmental or business strategic objectives aligned with government priorities by analyzing various information sources, engaging with programme and project stakeholders, and presenting findings through reports and visualisations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Work with business areas to identify and categorize new projects.
  2. Coordinate reporting from projects and analyze performance.
  3. Provide secretariat support for governance boards.
  4. Support the Portfolio Manager in communicating and fostering a shared vision and purpose.
  5. Maintain the portfolio delivery map and critical path to monitor project progress.
  6. Recognize and track interdependencies across change projects.
  7. Identify and monitor portfolio risks (threats and opportunities) and escalate as appropriate.
  8. Manage and engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
  9. Draft and approve correspondence.
  10. Assist in developing mechanisms for measuring benefits.
